Job Title: Risk Management - Lead Credit Officer - Specialty Finance

Job Responsibilities:

  • Portfolio Risk Management: Oversee the ongoing risk management of the assigned portfolio by maintaining a strong understanding of clients businesses and anticipating any potential risk changes or trends.

  • Industry Insight: Develop an in-depth knowledge of the residential mortgage finance and specialty finance markets. Work with junior analysts and product bankers to design client-focused risk management solutions.

  • Due Diligence Leadership: Lead and manage due diligence meetings—virtually or in person—with potential or existing clients to thoroughly assess financial and operational conditions.

  • Financial Risk Analysis: Conduct thorough financial evaluations of corporate counterparties to identify and quantify key risks, leveraging advanced analytical tools and methodologies.

  • Portfolio Monitoring: Continuously monitor risk grades and client health to ensure accurate representation and mitigate risk exposure through timely intervention.

  • Collaborative Structuring: Partner with coverage bankers and product teams to create transaction structures suited to client risk profiles and the nature of assets being financed.

  • Stress Testing: Conduct stress or downside credit scenario analysis using detailed Excel-based cash flow models; ensure their accuracy and reliability for risk assessment.

  • Documentation Review: Review, negotiate, and finalize transaction and trading legal documentation to ensure alignment with JPMorgan Chase Bank risk tolerance.

  • Credit Analysis and Reporting: Supervise the preparation of comprehensive credit analyses and present findings with clear recommendations to senior credit officers for final decision-making.

  • Team Mentorship: Mentor junior team members, assign tasks with guidance, and manage workloads to meet deadlines effectively. Escalate critical matters to senior leadership when appropriate.

  • Project Leadership: Take initiative in leading or contributing to special projects that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the risk management function.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Bachelor degree in a quantitative field (Finance, Economics, Mathematics, etc.)

  • At least 5 years of experience in Commercial/Corporate banking, Asset-Based Lending (ABL), or Structured Finance including roles in credit, structuring, and client engagement.

  • Strong expertise in credit analysis, financial structuring, and deal documentation.

  • Graduate of a comprehensive bank credit or analyst training program, or have equivalent practical experience.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective internal and external interaction.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities between portfolio oversight and deal execution.

  • Proven interpersonal ability to collaborate with colleagues, clients, and senior stakeholders.

  • High level of personal motivation and the ability to perform under pressure with tight deadlines.
