Position: Research Technician
Location: Houston, TX

Responsibilities:

• Design CRISPRs targeting genes associated with neurodegenerative disorders, generate CRISPR-Cas9 mutants in zebrafish, and maintain fish lines for ongoing research.

• Molecular Biology Experiments: Conduct PCR assays, isolate and purify DNA/RNA, and perform cloning of transgenes to advance research efforts.

• Lab Procurement & Management: Assist in the procurement of lab supplies, manage laboratory resources, and train junior lab members to ensure smooth operations.

• Data Collection & Analysis: Collect, track, and analyze research data using spreadsheets and databases to support scientific discovery.

• Laboratory Setup & Maintenance: Help with the setup of the laboratory, promote safety, maintain equipment, prepare reagents, and create kits to facilitate research.

• Biological Samples Management: Monitor and maintain a repository of biological samples, ensuring organization and accessibility for research purposes.

• Procurement & Experiment Setup: Prepare procurement requests, order materials and supplies, and manage experiments while maintaining research results for future publications.

• Additional Duties: Perform other assigned tasks to support the lab ongoing research activities.

Minimum Requirements:

• Associate degree in a relevant field, or equivalent related experience.

• For candidates with a high school diploma, relevant wet laboratory experience or significant training and management skills in a laboratory setting will be considered.

• 3 years of experience in biology or life sciences in a broad sense.

• Solid understanding of cell biology, genetics, and immunology.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) and research-related math and analysis.

• Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

• Capable of conducting, evaluating, and analyzing scientific data.

• Knowledge of quality, safety, and infection control standards in a laboratory environment.
