Position: Facilities Manager
Location: Houston, TX

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Planning and Operations: Oversee the planning and operations for Sarofim Hall, addressing complex business, regulatory, and technical challenges requiring subject matter expertise.

  • Manage Facilities Functions: Supervise the facilities functions for Sarofim Hall, ensuring smooth operation and meeting all operational needs.

  • Special Projects: Organize, manage, and complete special projects, ensuring successful execution from start to finish.

  • Policy and Procedure Evaluation: Evaluate existing programs, policies, and procedures. Identify issues and propose alternative solutions, including adjustments to programs or procedures as necessary.

  • Trend Analysis and Recommendations: Analyze trends within the department and provide actionable recommendations to meet or modify department goals, including tracking asset management.

  • Training and Support: Assess training needs and develop appropriate training, offering technical guidance and direct support to the end-user as needed.

  • Space Reservation Management: Serve as the space reservationist for courses and department activities, managing technical needs for external rental requests.

  • Access Control Coordination: Take on the role of primary departmental access control coordinator, granting access to interior and exterior doors, creating templates, and establishing door schedules.

  • Event Management: Oversee all aspects of external events, including managing space and equipment rentals to ensure smooth execution.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years of related experience. Additional education can substitute for experience.

  • Excellent verbal and communication skills.

  • Moderate knowledge of repair procedures, tools, and equipment.

  • Experience with audio/video systems.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities and deadlines.

  • Proficiency in applications such as Excel, Word, and Project.

  • Experience working with internal and external vendors and managing service contracts.

Preferences:

  • Advanced knowledge of IT and AV systems.

  • 1 year of general maintenance and project management experience.
